Preschoolers engage in creative activities that encourage independent thinking and expression.

In our preschool program, children engage in hands-on activities that challenge their minds and prepare them for more structured learning. Our curriculum is designed to build foundational skills in literacy, math, and science while fostering creativity through art and music. We emphasize the development of social-emotional skills, helping children understand how to interact positively with others. Teachers encourage children to ask questions, explore new ideas, and develop a passion for learning in an environment that nurtures curiosity and independent thinking.

Our preschool curriculum covers:

  • Language, Literacy, and Writing
  • Mathematics
  • Science and Technology

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ratio?
The ratio for our 3-4-year-old children is 12:1, with a maximum group size of 16, compared to the minimum standard group size of 22. Typically, each room has one designated teacher, and a second teacher floats between two rooms to provide assistance as needed, especially during the busiest times of the day.
How will my child learn to write?
Did you know that learning to write begins as early as birth? The skills needed for writing develop from the core of the body and move outward to the hands and fingers. So, children start learning to write from activities like holding up their heads and rolling from back to stomach. At this stage, we focus on developing both gross motor and fine motor skills, all of which are essential for writing. Fine motor activities are designed to build hand strength and flexibility, including bead stringing, tracing letters in sand, forming letters with play dough, and using tweezers and tongs in sporting activities. The morning message also focuses on written letters, capitalization, and punctuation.
Are children taught manners?
Children learn manners through teacher modeling, stories, songs, and everyday routines.
How do you handle discipline?
Teachers begin Conscious Discipline training during orientation and continue it throughout their career at Building Blocks. We are trained to use these guidance techniques to foster a positive environment where children can learn to recognize their emotions, calm themselves with support, and stand up to aggressive behavior, among other things. Teachers and children use “oops” moments as chances to problem-solve.
What can I do at home to support my child and the class?
Spend at least 10 minutes with your child every day. Studies show that just 10 minutes of focused time can make a significant impact on your child’s well-being. Parenting is challenging, and being a working parent is even harder, so make the most of the time you have. On days when time is limited, simply take 10!
